“…The role of cyclo-oxygenase-2 (COX-2) and polymorphonuclear leukocytes (PNLs) in the postoperative pain mechanism has been demonstrated in literature [3,4]. The postoperative pain models employed in the present study are the pain originating from surgical trauma [5] and the carrageenan pain model. These pain models were established through a scalpel lesion or injection of carrageenan to the rat paw.…”

“…Also, the Nd:YAG laser offers some benefits in the surgical field. The wavelengths of this laser are absorbed by pigmented tissues, making it very effective for surgical cutting and coagulating dental soft tissue with good homeostasis 6‐10 . Consequently, the Nd:YAG laser has been described for use in oral soft tissue management 10 …”

“…Historically, the public has associated dental treatment with pain, so pain control is very important for the physical and dental wellbeing of the patient and for the effectiveness of therapy. However, to the best of the authors’ knowledge, there are few studies that investigate the postoperative effects of laser treatment, 3,7‐9 but reduced postoperative pain from oral surgical procedures has been claimed after laser tissue ablation 9 …”
