Abstract:Cryopreservation process causes extensive damage to the mammalian spermatozoa (Maxwell & Johnson, 1999; Purdy, 2006). Over the past decade, experiments indicated that freezing and thawing process are associated with oxidative stress and generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and finally lipid peroxidation. Moreover, the alteration in the acrosome and membrane integrity, decrease in viability, motility and fertilizing capability are the consequences of freezing and thawing processes (Chatterjee, De Lamiran… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
