Background: This study was performed to examine the effect of Whey extract and nanohydroxyapatite powder mixed with olive in different times of application on the microhardness and micromorphology of white spot lesion. Materials and Methods:A total of 16 premolars were selected. The samples were sectioned mesiodistally into two halves to obtain 32 specimens, then divided into two groups according to materials used; A1: Whey extract, A2: Nano-hydroxyapatite paste. The two groups were subdivided into two subgroups according to the time of assessment; B1: after 10 minutes and B2: after 8 days. All the samples were treated by demineralizing solution for 72 hours, and then the tested materials were applied. Microhardness test was performed three times for each sample, at baseline, after demineralization, and after treatment for each period of time (after 10 minutes and after 8 days). Two representative samples from each group (one representing 10 minutes and the other representing 8 days) and two samples of sound and one for demineralized enamel were selected for SEM.Results: Microhardness results revealed that the two materials show a significant increase in microhardness with no significant difference between them. SEM demonstrated improvement in demineralized enamel surface defects in the two test groups. Conclusion:Whey extract and nano-hydroxyapatite powder mixed with olive oil are considered an effective therapy to re-mineralize the white spot lesion of the enamel surface regardless of the time of application (10 minutes or 8 days).

Purpose:The aim of this study was to evaluate the remineralizing potential of white tea and green tea pretreatment on microhardness of demineralized dentin. Materials and Methods: A total number of 21 dentin samples were divided into three main groups of 7samples each according to the utilized treatment after demineralization. In the first group, dentin samples were immersed in 10% white tea extract solution followed by casein phosphopeptide amorphous calcium phosphate application. In the second group, samples were immersed in 10% green tea extract solution followed by casein phosphopeptide amorphous calcium phosphate application, while in the third group ,casein phosphopeptide amorphous calcium phosphate(CPP-ACP) only was applied on dentin surface. Microhardness was evaluated at baseline, after demineralization and after treatment for all dentin samples. Results: Microhardness mean values results revealed statistically significant increase in all groups after treatment .The highest percent of change of microhardness was found in white tea group, followed by green tea, while the control group revealed the lowest percent of change. Conclusions: Tea extracts increased dentin microharness when used before application of remineralizing agent. However, white tea extract showed better microhardness values indicating stabilization of dentin collagen network resulting in functional remineralization.

Background: Eating disorder (ED) is characterized by abnormalities in the pattern, amount, and nature of food eaten. Recent studies confirm the high prevalence of ED worldwide, which has increased significantly from 3.5% to 7.8% in the last 18 years. One of the common symptoms of ED sufferers is intentional vomiting, which can lower the pH of the oral cavity and induce perimylolysis. A new challenge is finding an innovation to alleviate perimylolysis in ED patients regarding behavior and dental treatment. Material and Methods: The literature review was carried out in PUBMED, ResearchGate, and ScienceDirect with the keywords: CPP-ACP, proanthocyanidin, chewing gum, eating disorder. Conclusions: Chewing gum containing CPP-ACP and proanthocyanidins from cranberries has been shown to have remineralization potential to help relieve perimylolysis in ED patients from a behavioral and dental perspective.
