“…In addition, when we assessed the interventions' effect in studies without acid secretion inhibiting drugs as a placebo, we also saw its benefit. 10,34,46 All medications, besides ecabet sodium, 40 included in the meta-analysis also showed a favourable impact on mucosal integrity and injury improvement in the qualitative analysis. Polaprezinc treatment, with its anti-inflammatory effect and intercellular tight-junction protection, could also reduce the number of reddened lesions and the Lewis score.…”

“…Our systematic search provided a total of 3341 duplicate-free records. After title, abstract and full-text selection, we identified 26 RCTs 912,2547 for our qualitative synthesis. We included 12 articles on the prevention 9,11,12,2629,35,38,40,42,46 and 6 articles on the treatment 31,32,39,44,45,47 of NSAID-induced SBE in the quantitative synthesis.…”

“…Rebamipide (100mg TID) reduced intestinal lesions induced by diclofenac (25 mg TID) given for 14 days. In addition, Nishida et al [39] recently studied the effect of rebamipide on the intestinal lesions induced by low dose entericcoated aspirin in 10 HVs, and found that aspirin (100 mg) given once a day for 14 days caused lesions (observed by CE) and a decrease of mucosal blood flow (measured by contrast-enhanced ultrasonography) in the small intestine, and these effects were prevented by rebamipide (100 mg TID).…”
