Evaluation of Surface Cleaning Procedures for CTGS Substrates for SAW Technology with XPS

Abstract: A highly efficient and reproducible cleaning procedure of piezoelectric substrates is essential in surface acoustic waves (SAW) technology to fabricate high-quality SAW devices, especially for new applications such SAW sensors wherein new materials for piezoelectric substrates and interdigital transducers are used. Therefore, the development and critical evaluation of cleaning procedures for each material system that is under consideration becomes crucial. Contaminants like particles or the presence of organic… Show more

“…For application on a glass coverslip, Si-wafer, stainless steel or other metals it is necessary to clean the surface of the substrate (e.g., by applying the so-called RCA standard clean, developed by Werner Kern in 1965 while working for Radio Corporation of America) [136] and create a residual charge on it, and also to enhance the binding of EVs for the substrate, e.g., by applying oxygen plasma treatment. There are also several non-specific coating solutions used for the same purpose: NiCl 2 , poly-L-lysine, GA, amine groups, peptides or aptamers [45,46,128,137,138].…”

“…As a result, the characteristics of quantum dots vary with their size, and their excitations are confined in all three-dimensional space. The major feature of a quantum dot that describes the relationship between QD size and the wavelength of light they generate is confinement energy [24]. Figure 1 illustrates the effect of size-changing from bulk to quantum size on the electronic level and the bandgap value.…”

“…The ZnPSi was used as a resource to produce the ZnSiQDs. The n-type Si (100) wafer of dimension 1.5 cm × 2.5 cm were cleaned via the RCA method [29]. A Teflon cell was used to produce ZnPSi; wherein zinc powder (0.17 g) was mixed to a solution made of HF and ET (volume ratio of 1:1).…”
