Evaluation of Susceptibility of the Human Pathogen Helicobacter pylori to the Antibiotic Capreomycin

Abstract: Helicobacter pylori infection causes gastritis, peptic ulcer disease, mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue lymphoma, and gastric cancer and can also promote thrombosis. It is estimated that approximately 4.5 billion individuals are infected, thus rendering H. pylori the most prevalent microbial pathogen. Currently established regimes for antibiotic treatment are massively challenged by increasing drug resistance and the development of novel antimicrobial therapies is urgently required. The antibiotic capreomycin … Show more

“…Beyond the elements of MetS-related pericyte deficits [44] and potential cerebral pericyte dysfunction related to H. pylori infection [45], a deficiency in cerebral pericytes linked to MetS may play a role in the pathophysiology of neurodegenerative disorders associated with H. pylori and MetS [4,46], such as Alzheimer's disease (AD) [47]. Pericyte loss is implicated in the pathophysiology of diverse MetS-associated pathologies, including T2DM, stroke, and AD.…”

“…Next, molecular dynamic simulations were run for 100 ns, with ensembles of constant particle numbers, pressure, and temperature (NPTs) with a recording interval of 100 ps [25]. The temperature and pressure were adjusted to 310.15 K and 1.01325 bar, respectively, to simulate the in vivo environment [26]. The simulation interaction diagram tool in the Schrödinger suite's Desmond module was used to investigate the results [24].…”
