Evaluation of the antinociceptive activities of enaminone compounds on the formalin and hot plate tests in mice

Abstract: Recently, we found that methyl 4-(4′-bromophenyl)aminocyclohex-3-en-6-methyl-2-oxo-1-oate (E139), an anticonvulsant enaminone, has antinociceptive activity in the hot plate test. In this study we evaluated the antinociceptive activity of five anilino enaminones E139, ethyl 4-(4′-chlorophenyl)amino-6-methyl-2-oxocyclohex-3-en-1-oate (E121), ethyl 4-(4′-bromophenyl)amino-6-methyl-2-oxocyclohex-3-en-1-oate (E122), methyl 4-(4′-chlorophenyl)amino-6-methyl-2-oxocyclohex-3-en-1-oate (E138) and ethyl 4-(4′-fluorophen… Show more

“…The forty female mice (referring to the pharmacological experimental method [16], hot plates would burn the genitals of male mice) with a pain threshold between 5 s and 30 s were selected and divided randomly into four groups and were intragastrically administered as mentioned above. After 6 days of continuous intragastric administration, the values of the pain threshold after 0.5-h, 1.5-h and 2-h administration of each group were determined by the hot-plate method [17,18].…”

“…In a parallel experiment, naltrexone (1 mg/kg) was administrated s.c. 5 min prior to morphine injection. Hot-plate test results were analyzed using two-way repeated measures ANOVA, followed by Bonferroni post-tests in GraphPad Prism 5 software (GraphPad Software Inc., La Jolla, CA) (46).…”
