Evaluation of the Chemical Composition of Ajuga Chamaepitys (L.) Schreb. From the Spontaneous Flora of Romania

Abstract: Ajuga chamaepitys (L.) Schreb., traditionally named yellow bugle, is a perennial species that is part of the Dobrogea region, Romania, spontaneous flora, associated in traditional phytotherapy. The aim of this study was to determine the qualitative and quantitative chemical composition of different types of plant organs (aerial parts, leaves, flowers, stems and roots), as well as the optimal harvesting interval. Thus, higher levels in the flavones, phenolic acids and total polyphenols content were recorded in … Show more

“…Phenolic compounds represent a group of secondary metabolites with important pharmacological properties for all medical fields. The explanation of the effects obtained by the extracts studied on reference bacterial strains and isolated from pathological products is related to antibacterial mechanisms produced by the targeted secondary metabolites, which are cited in the specialized literature, as follows [30].…”

“…Differences in the categorical variables were analyzed using a Chi-square test. If the overall Chi-square test resulted in a p -value < 0.05, then post hoc comparisons were performed using a Bonferroni test (following the chi-square tests) [ 37 , 38 , 39 ].…”
