Evaluation of the efficiency of the delivery process in the technical object of transport infrastructure with the application of a simulation model

Abstract: The article presents the issue of assessing the effectiveness of the implementation of a logistics process with the use of a simulation model and queue theory. The process that has been analyzed is the process of goods’ delivery at the technical object. Firstly, a literature review was carried out. Next, the authors described the process using the QT (Queueing Theory). This was possible due to the fact that QT is widely used in the analysis of systems as well as the assessment of their effectiveness, maintenan… Show more

“…Simulation models are used when it is either impossible or difficult to obtain an analytical solution to a specific investigated problem or when a comparison of analytical and simulation solutions is recommended [16]. Simulation models are applied to solve problems in various fields of research; for example, a simulation model of an assembly line production system for analyzing collaborative workplaces in detail [17], a simulation model for redesigning the production process [18], a simulation model of the production process for testing the energy consumption of selected equipment [19], a simulation model to assess the effectiveness of the delivery handling process [20], a simulation model of transport processes in a small cross-docking center [21], and a simulation traffic model to monitor and assess changes in the internal traffic circuit of cities [22].…”

“…In addition, simulation is often used in cargo operations at freight stations, especially in intermodal transportthe works of e.g. [20,31,32,43] can be pointed out here. AnyLogic, FlexSim, YardSYM, YardSim, Optiyard, and Villon are the most frequently used simulation tools to support the planning, management and organisation of railway station operations, including processes at nodal stations.…”

“…Neural networks enable the construction of such procedures. On the other hand, the introduction of automatic diagnostic systems into rail traffic control equipment significantly improves operational efficiency, reduces the risk of failures and associated delays, and increases overall rail traffic safety [4,10,12,14,17]. As technology advances, such systems are becoming more sophisticated and capable of independently predicting and responding can be said in real time to potential problems.…”
