Evaluation of the Elastic Properties of Thirteen Silicone Interocclusal Recording Materials

Abstract: Background. Addition silicones are popular as dental impression materials and are used in bite registration procedures. Objective. This study aimed to compare the postsetting elasticities and other mechanical properties of thirteen addition silicone interocclusal recording materials. Materials and Methods. The following materials were investigated: Colorbite D, Futar D, Genie Bite, Jet Blue Bite fast, Memoreg 2, O-Bite, Occlufast Rock, Omni-Bite Plus, Regidur i, Registrado X-tra, Regofix transparent, StoneBite… Show more

“…Thus, the accuracy of the BG method has been directly validated in this work. The obtained results also provide more experimental data on PVS properties, since this matter is not widely represented in literature (see e.g., Chai et al (1998); Wieckiewicz et al (2016))…”

“…Walls [23] demonstrated the problems of inaccuracy in the transfer of maxillo-mandibular relations from the mouth to a semi-adjustable articulator. Even if the registration of the material is accurate but due to their inherent properties, the casts may not orient to the same settled position [24,25]. The final evaluation of any prosthesis depends upon an accurate duplication of the jaw relations in the laboratory.…”
