Evaluation of the logistics center locations using a multi-criteria spatial approach

Abstract: The private sector assumes that logistics centers create cost benefits for their operations. On the other hand, the public sector also assumes that logistics sectors maintain harmony with an aim to improve the logistics network structure and efficiency. In Turkey, nineteen logistics centers are on-going to develop a system approach and integrate different transportation modes to increase logistics performance. In this study, we focused on a multi-stage methodology that combines the fuzzy analytic hierarchy pro… Show more

“…The expert questionnaire consists of 18 questions. This is a closed dichotomy question, which has one of two answers, multichotomies, which have answers from more than two options (questions 1-3, 7, 9, [11][12][13][14][15], open-ended -to find out the company in which the experts work, duties and work length of service (16-18 questions). It should be noted that the "other" field was added to some questions (1, 3, 8, 9, 11, 13, 15) containing more than a few statements or answers, in which experts could write their opinions.…”

“…In the study Buckley's (1985) f-AHP approach is preferred over the other approaches due the discussion in the literature (Onden, Acar, & Eldemir, 2016). The technique has 3 analyses stages regarding the determination of criteria weight.…”

“…Since this paper did not aim to contribute fuzzy decision analysis, the details of these math steps are not given. For further information of the calculation please see: (Buckley, 1985;Onden et al, 2016). The third stage, the fuzzy values turned into crisp values.…”

“…Hu et al developed a sustainability evaluation framework for PSS with application of fuzzy Delphi and F-AHP method to settle the consistency of criteria and determine relative weights of the selected criteria [11]. Onden [12] focused on a multi-stage methodology that combines the F-AHP, spatial statistics and analysis approaches to evaluate the suitability degrees of the logistics centers in the study area. To cover the shortages of existing research, this paper proposes a novel approach to selecting recommended pick-up points.…”
