Evaluation of the use of hybrid electric powertrain system in urban traffic conditions

Abstract: The conditions of use of the vehicle significantly affect the performance results. Traffic conditions in a specific city directly affect the consumption of energy, fuel and emissions of harmful compounds in exhaust fumes. Conduction of the measurements of a vehicle’s performance parameters in operating conditions is very troublesome and is often not possible to realize. An alternative is to use the simulation programs. Vehicle simulation programs offer options related to vehicle models or drive unit components… Show more

“…These dynamometers may vary drastically in their components and operation based on the particular needs of each vehicle manufacturer or research institution [37]. Amongst the different types of dynamometers used, this research focuses on those where the entire vehicle powertrain (often with chassis and cabin) is placed on rollers to simulate driving conditions.…”

“…In addition, there was a greater increase in the actual fuel consumption on the road compared to the fuel consumption under JC08 operating conditions. [5][6][7][8][9] Montazeri-Gh and Mahmoodi-k did much research on simultaneous multi-objective optimization of a PHEV power management system and component sizing in real-world traffic conditions, comparative study of different types of PHEV optimal control strategies in real-world conditions and optimized predictive energy management of PHEV based on traffic conditions, simulation results indicate that the proposed approach in real-world driving condition reduces emissions and fuel consumption significantly. [10][11][12] Based on the reference and analysis of the PHEV energy consumption test regulations in the United States, the EU, and China, this paper proposes an innovative calculation method for PHEV energy consumption based on statistical energy consumption, which is verified and explained through examples.…”

“…In recent years, the automotive industry has been showing trends towards the development of electromobility [1,17,39]. Due to the significant share of transport in global greenhouse gas emissions, solutions are being sought to improve the environmental indicators relating to means of transport [27,36,46]. Despite significant investments in the development of electromobility means of transport, research on the further development of thermal engines is still ongoing, as evidenced by numerous research works, patents and implementations [8,19,38].…”
