Evaluation of urine for Dirofilaria immitis antigen detection in dogs

Abstract: Background Infection by the canine heartworm, Dirofilaria immitis, causes a potentially fatal, multisystemic disease in dogs. Diagnosis of D. immitis relies on serologic antigen detection coupled with microfilariae identification.
