Evaluation of Ventral Laparoscopic Abomasopexy Using Surgical Staples Associated with Suture Material in Dairy Cattle

Abstract: Background: Displaced Abomasum is known for being on of the main illnesses that affect milking cows. Increase in diagnosis of this illness is due to advancement in diagnosis techniques. Increase in incidence of this illness can be explained by genetic selection of animals with high production, breed systems and changes to the diet with a higher level of protein. For laparoscopic treatment, several surgical changes were performed to optimize the procedure and thus achieve better results. The main purpose of thi… Show more

“…Laparoscopy is a potentially viable diagnostic alternative that allows diagnosing multifocal abscesses in the liver, changes in umbilical arteries near their branching from the internal iliac artery, and focal thickenings and adhesions 15 , 20 , 36 . The use of laparoscopy in production animals is still incipient, but its use provides better results in semiological and clinical/surgical procedures in bovine veterinary medicine, with advances in sanitary/production methods and animal welfare 18 , 37 – 39 .…”

“…A higher level of NEFA harms the inflammatory function and immune system of the animal due to metabolic stress and the production of reactive oxygen species (Corrêa et al, 2018). The elevated level of the NEFA enhances the inflammatory cytokines which negatively alter the gastrointestinal motility (Contreras and Sordillo 2011;Durgut et al, 2016b).…”
