Evaluation of Wheat Genotypes: Genotype × Environment Interaction and Gge Biplot Analysis

Abstract: This research was carried out to evaluate the grain yield, yield traits and some quality characteristics of 18 bread wheat genotypes in seven different locations in Thrace region using principal component analysis and genotype + genotype × environment interaction (GGE) biplot analysis to determine the genotypes with high yield and desired quality characteristics during the 2016-2017 and 2017-2018 cropping years. The experiments were arranged in a randomized complete block design with four replications. Genotyp… Show more

“…Experiment year had the most effect on the genotype Anka-08 (0.84 cm) and the lowest effect was 0.01 cm from the genotype Akar (Table 7). Our results were similar to Güngör et al (2022) who obtained a significant effect of G, Y, and G x Y interaction on SL. Moreover, the SL value recorded in Mirosavljevıć et al (2016) experiment was close to our findings, 9.9 cm.…”

“…However, their research indicated a significant effect of year and G x Y interaction on SPS. Ahmadi et al (2016) obtained a mean value of 36.79 and Güngör et al (2022) obtained 34.2 to 59.6 SPS, which are close to our findings. PH: plant height, SSM: number of spike per square meter, SL: spike length, NSS: number of spikelets per spike, SPS: number of seeds per spike.…”

“…Genotypes and environments close to the center circle in the comparison plot are considered ideal genotypes and environments (Yan and Tinker, 2006). In similar studies conducted, they stated that genotypes could be evaluated in terms of many traits with GGE Biplot methods, and it provides convenience in visually examining genotypes that show high performance in more than one trait and provides in selection (Vaezi et al, 2017;Gungor et al, 2022b).…”

“…Triticale (xTriticosecale wittmack), grown in many countries of the world, is an artificial cereal obtained by crossing wheat and rye, combining high grain yield and quality characteristics of wheat and tolerance of rye to biotic and abiotic stress factors (Oettler 2005, Güngör et al 2022. Triticale, which is seen as an alternative plant to solve the nutritional problem of the increasing world population is known to be tolerant in conditions where organic matter is low, partially acidic and salty soils, frost and drought problems (Carikci et al 2017, Ozturk et al 2019.…”
