Measurements by Jelenko and Wheeler (1967) and Lamke and Wedin (1971) of evaporation rates from water surfaces made with similar techniques to those used for deriving the evaporation rate from skin, gave values for the diffusion resistance which were 5&80 per cent higher than those derived from the present study. The method employed was to determine the vapour content of air passed over a small area of skin (25 cm or less) in an enclosed system.…”
