“…In his pioneering work on the subject, Cantera Burgos pointed out that the Cancionero de Baena (Dutton PN1) was a veritable document of the coexistence of the three religions on the medieval Iberian Peninsula ("la entremezclada convivencia de gentes de las tres religiones entonces existentes en España" 1967, 80). This assessment was clearly in tune with Américo Castro's heterodox definition of medieval Iberian decades (Nirenberg 2006, 8-12;Soifer Irish 2009, 19-22;discussion in Szpiech 2013, Novikoff 2005, and Abate 2019.
