Evidence for directCPviolation from Dalitz-plot analysis ofB±K±ππ±

Abstract: We report a Dalitz-plot analysis of the charmless hadronic decays of charged B mesons to the final state K AE % Ç % AE . Using a sample of ð383:2 AE 4:2Þ Â 10 6 B " B pairs collected by the BABAR detector, we measure CP-averaged branching fractions and direct CP asymmetries for intermediate resonant and nonresonant

“…Two contributions to the K 0 S π þ π 0 final state arise from the resonant decays B þ → K Ã ð892Þ 0 π þ and B þ → K Ã ð892Þ þ π 0 . Although both the rate and CP asymmetries for B þ → K Ã ð892Þ 0 π þ have been well measured, with K Ã0 → K þ π − , by both the BABAR [16] and Belle [17] Collaborations, the measurements of the rate and CP asymmetry for B þ → K Ã ð892Þ þ π 0 [18] have significant statistical uncertainties and could benefit from the additional information provided by a full amplitude analysis. In Table I we review the existing measurements of the rates and CP asymmetries in the B → K Ã ð892Þπ system.…”

“…In addition, the study of these modes provides experimental information on the dynamics of pseudo-scalar-vector modes, which is less known and more challenging from the theoretical point of view. Finally, this system has been studied extensively at the BaBar [38][39][40][41] and Belle [43,44] experiments, and a large set of observables is readily available.…”
