Evidence for directCPviolation in the decayB±D(*)K±

Abstract: We present a new measurement of the unitarity triangle angle φ3 using a Dalitz plot analysis of the KThe method exploits the interference between D 0 and D 0 to extract the angle φ3, strong phase δ and the ratio r of suppressed and allowed amplitudes. We apply this method to a 605 fb −1 data sample collected by the Belle experiment. The analysis uses three decays: B ± → DK ± , and B ± → D * K ± with D * → Dπ 0 and D * → Dγ, as well as the corresponding charge-conjugate modes. From a combined maximum likelihood… Show more

“…In Ref. [4] a thorough study is made of the D 0 → K 0 s π + π − reaction and the amplitude is parametrized in terms of form factors, resonance parameters and different couplings, amounting to a set of 33 free parameters, which are fitted to the Belle [5] and BaBar [6] data. The purpose there is to have a good amplitude that can be used to determine the D 0 − D * 0 mixing parameters and the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa (CKM) angle γ.…”

“…In the third case, what is measured are the different Dalitz plot distributions of in B + → D 0 K + and B − → D 0 K − decays, and measurements have been made with [157, 158] or without [159] assuming an amplitude model for the D 0 decay. The advantage of this method is that it only suffers from a two-fold ambiguity in the measured value of γ , as opposed to the eightfold ambiguity in e.g.…”
