Abstract:Emerging literature has highlighted the relationship between inflammatory and neuroinflammatory biomarkers and tinnitus. Neuroinflammation may help to explain the mechanisms underpinning hyperactivity in the cochlea, cochlear nucleus, inferior colliculus, medial geniculate body, and the auditory cortex in those with tinnitus.
