“…Several studies comparing empathic reactions, measured as the brain activity in subjects observing painful situations in photographs and cartoons, concluded that the neural activity linked to empathy for pain decreased when the reality of the painful stimuli was reduced by presenting painful stimulation in cartoon form (Han et al, 2005 ; Gu and Han, 2007 ). Similar results were recently obtained for moving images, where neuronal correlates of emotional empathy were observed in (viewers of) live-action movies, but not in (viewers of) animated movies (Vemuri and Surampudi, 2015 ). Further elucidating the relationship between the behavioral and neuronal indices of empathic response to the image and the reality effect subjectively perceived by the viewer clearly remains a major goal for future research.…”

“…En efecto, el cuidado en salud del adulto mayor ha sido históricamente prevalente en la población femenina, principalmente en el ambiente domiciliar y en las instituciones filantrópicas donde predomina su presencia. Estudios en el campo de la neurociencia social también vienen preocupándose por ofrecer posibles respuestas al nivel de activación cerebral, investigando correlaciones entre el género y el hemisferio derecho, advirtiendo mayor respuesta en el sexo femenino a estímulos empáticos (19,20).…”

“…In addition, the inferior frontal gyrus of imprisoned psychopaths is less activated by a theory-of-mind task 93 . There is already some evidence that subjects show different functional responses in their emotional empathy while watching computer-generated actors compared to actors in live-action movies 94 . A metaanalysis consisting of 31 functional (and 12 structural) studies 95 came to the result that antisocial individuals have functional deficits in the right orbitofrontal, the left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex, and the right anterior cingulate cortex, and this effect persisted regardless of whether the subjects had to perform a cognitive or emotional task.…”
