Abstract: The percentage of women with NSCLC has increased in 10years in France. In 2010, the main gender differences persist, but have decreased with the increasing proportion of non-smokers and adenocarcinomas in men. Various hypotheses to explain these changes are discussed.

“…16 The clinical characteristics of the patients included in this study were similar to those of patients with newly diagnosed NSCLC except for the smoking status, since 98% of the patients had a history of smoking. 17,18 This is in agreement with data highlighting the link between smoking history and a better response to ICI therapy [19][20][21] and with the absence of approval in France for ICI for first-line treatment of EGFR-mutated and ALK-rearranged NSCLC. Of note, 26% of longterm responders had a poor PS at the beginning of the ICI therapy, which confirms that these patients can derive a prolonged benefit from ICI.…”

“…ACCL tends to occur in younger patients, with an approximate male/female ratio of 1:1 ( 7 , 8 ). However, there is a marked predominance of males in the incidence of other lung cancers ( 8 , 9 ). All smoking information was collected in the present study, and the majority of the cohort (67.6%) were found to be never smokers.…”
