Abstract:Zoosporic fungi produce unicellular motile reproductive spores with swimming tails (zoospores). These fungi are key components of aquatic food webs, acting as parasites, saprotrophs and prey, with some species representing ecologically important infectious diseases (e.g., of amphibian hosts).
