Employee commitment is one of the common thematic areas for TQM in the service sector. It is crucial in fostering a sense of purpose, dedication, and alignment with the organization's mission and values. Since organization performance is linked to product quality and depends on its employees' dedication, organizations seeking competitive advantages through TQM must critically examine the levels of employee commitment. The universities in sub-Sahara Africa face elevated environmental dynamism in providing quality education. Due to conceptual gaps in the studies on employee commitment to university education in Kenya, the study evaluated the influence of employee commitment on the performance goals of private universities in Kenya. The study targeted seventeen (17) privately chartered universities founded by religious-based institutions in Kenya and utilized descriptive research design. The study censused 17 heads of administrative sections, functional departments and academic sections and used questionnaires as the primary data collection tool. Cronbach's Alpha reliability testing indicated that the instrument achieved scale reliability. The study used both descriptive and inferential analysis, and the results indicated that performance goals positively correlated with employee commitment (r = 0.670, p < 0.05) and explained 45.82 % variance in performance goals with an effect size; β1 = 0.67697 (t = 12.97, p< 0.05). The findings showed that employee commitment significantly influences the performance goals of these universities. The study recommends that these universities should seek to train, develop and align their human capital towards higher quality objectives from individual, departmental and organizational levels. This study is significant to the stakeholders in privately – chartered universities in Kenya and related contexts, as it will offer more enriching information on employee commitment to quality

This research study sought to determine how the logical-incremental strategy implementation style, andeach of its three constructs (goal clarity, employee commitment and continuous steady improvements),influenced the performance of commercial state corporations in Kenya. This research study employedthe positivism research philosophy and a descriptive research design. The multistage sampling method(homogenous purposive sampling, stratified random sampling and simple random sampling) wasapplied to draw 327 middle-level managers from the target population. Using linear regressionanalysis, this research study established that the logical-incremental strategy implementation stylepositively and significantly influenced the performance of commercial state corporations in Kenya.Further, this research study found that goal clarity, employee commitment and continuous steadyimprovements positively and significantly influenced the financial performance of commercial statecorporations in Kenya (p < 0.05). In addition, the present study established that goal clarity andcontinuous steady improvements had a positive and significant influence on the customer satisfactionof commercial state corporations in Kenya (p < 0.05), but employee commitment had no statisticallysignificant influence on customer satisfaction (p > 0.05). This study concludes that adoption of thelogical-incremental strategy implementation style enhances the performance of commercial statecorporations in Kenya, and therefore, recommends that in order to achieve enhanced performance, themanagement of commercial state corporations should ensure that strategic objectives are clear, thatemployees are committed, and that the organization continuously improves its processes andprocedures in order to enhance organizational effectiveness.

This study investigated leadership styles, organisational rewards and employees’ commitment in academic libraries in Nigeria. The descriptive study adopted a total enumeration sampling technique. All of the 218 staff of academic libraries in Ondo State were covered by the study; 153 (70.2%) responded to the study. The Organisational Commitment Questionnaire developed by Allen and Meyer was used for data collection. The study found that the extent of the leadership styles adopted by the heads of libraries was moderate. Heads of libraries and subordinate staff had conflicting opinions about the extent of employees’ commitment and organisational rewards given to employees. The study found a significant relationship between leadership styles and employee commitment, and between organisational rewards and employee commitment in academic libraries in Nigeria. It is recommended that academic libraries should be democratic in their leadership approach and reward employees fairly for their efforts so as to ensure maximum employee commitment.
