Exceptional composite dark matter

Abstract: We study the dark matter phenomenology of nonminimal composite Higgs models with SO(7) broken to the exceptional group G 2 . In addition to the Higgs, three pseudoNambu-Goldstone bosons arise, one of which is electrically neutral. A parity symmetry is enough to ensure this resonance is stable. In fact, if the breaking of the Goldstone symmetry is driven by the fermion sector, this Z 2 symmetry is automatically unbroken in the electroweak phase. In this case, the relic density, as well as the expected indirect,… Show more

“…This exercise helps us to pinpoint the differences between our analysis and that of Ref. [42]: 11 Only for this plot, following Ref. [42] we adopt the coupling normalization c φ = λ/2 and use a two-sided test to determine the exclusion bounds, i.e.…”

“…One of the most popular expectations is that DM could be made up of one or more types of weakly interacting massive particles (WIMPs). Many WIMP candidates have been proposed, including scalars [1][2][3][4], neutral fermions (the most notable example being neutralinos appearing in supersymmetric models [5]), neutral gauge bosons (such as the Kaluza-Klein excitation of the photon [6][7][8] in models with universal extra dimensions) and light mesons in composite Higgs models [9][10][11]. DM particles must be stable on at least cosmological time scales.…”

“…[1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8]) and composite models of Dark Matter (see e.g. [9][10][11][12][13][14][15][16][17]) received recent attention. In the introduction, for concreteness, we focus on composite Higgs models but our results apply in general to theories with spontaneous breaking of global symmetries.…”
