Excited heavy meson decays to light vector mesons: Implications for spectroscopy

Abstract: We analyze strong decays of excited charmed and beauty mesons into a light vector meson, exploiting the effective field theory based on heavy quark (HQ) symmetries for heavy mesons, and on the hidden gauge symmetry to incorporate light vector mesons. HQ symmetries allow to classify the heavy mesons in spin doublets, and to relate decays of excited states. We build effective Lagrangian terms governing the Hi → P ( * ) V modes, with Hi an excited s, p, d and f -wave heavy-light quark meson, P, P * the lowest-lyi… Show more

“…So using the coupling constant values obtained from experimental charm states to theoretically predict the information for bottom states may change the actual results. Moreover, one can also extend the work by studying the decays decaying to ground state through vector mesons with J P ¼ 1 − [50].…”

“…The strong decay processes D * 2 → D * π , Dπ [1,[10][11][12], D * s2 → DK [1], B * 2 → B * π , Bπ [1,4], B * s2 → B K, B * K [2,3,6] have been observed in experiments. In reference [13], the strong decays of some a e-mail: yuguoliang2011@163.com b e-mail: zgwang@aliyun.com excited charmed and beauty mesons into a light vector meson were analyzed by exploiting the effective field theory and a classification of the newly observed heavy-light mesons was proposed. In our previous work, we also studied some strong decay processes of these newly observed mesons and obtained their strong coupling constants and strong decay widths [14][15][16].…”

“…Considering D * J (3000) and D J (3000) as 2P(0 + , 1 + ) 1 2 multiplets, the predicted value of the effective coupling constant gS found to be 0.10 ± 0.015 which would be useful for the future investigations on heavy-light systems. The numerical values of the decay widths and B Rs emitting the light vector meson channels such as Dρ, D s K * and Dω can also be incorporated to make precise predictions based on the heavy quark effective theory framework [27]. Recently, the L HCb group has observed a state labelled as D * 2 (3000) with mass 3214 ± 29 ± 33 MeV and total width 186 ± 38 ± 34 MeV [1].…”
