“…Miguel et al (2011) studied distillation time on Salvia officinalis, however the main constituents in the essential oil did not fluctuate significantly during distillation, contrary to the hypothesis in our study. Application of salicylic acid at a concentration of 10 −4 M to fennel foliage realized a 70.5% increase in essential oil yield in comparison to controls (Hashmi et al, 2012) along with changes in essential oil composition of (−)-fenchone, methyl chavicol, and transanethole. Zheljazkov et al (2013b) studied the composition changes of essential oil through distillation time in female Juniperus scopulorum plants and found a similar trend for (−)-␣-pinene concentration to our data, suggesting rapid volatilization early in the distillation.…”
