Exothermic explosions in a slab: A case study of series summation technique

Abstract: This paper examine the steady-state solutions for the strongly exothermic decomposition of a combustible material uniformly distributed between symmetrically heated parallel plates under Bimolecular, Arrhenius and Sensitised reaction rates, neglecting the consumption of the material. Analytical solutions are constructed for the governing nonlinear boundary-value problem using perturbation technique together with a special type of Hermite-Padé approximants and important properties of the temperature field inclu… Show more

“…12 There is need, therefore, for more knowledge that can help to control CO 2 emission for the preservation of O 2 that is essential for life. The complicated chemistry involved in combustion of reactive material in a stockpile is tackled in Williams, 13 Makinde, 14 and Legodi and Makinde 15 using one-step decomposition kinetics. The combustion reaction due to exothermic chemical reaction is very complicated and includes many radicals, especially when large hydrocarbons are involved.…”

“…The study of laminar falling viscous incompressible liquid film along an inclined porous heated plate has many significant applications in thermal engineering and industries, starting from petroleum drilling equipments to various industrial exchanger systems [16]. Adeyinka and Naterer [17] investigated the physical significance of entropy generation, and a resulting optimization correlation for a laminar film condensation on a flat plate was developed.…”
