Experience in the Application of Hydrocarbon Optical Studies in Oil Field Development

Abstract: This article reviews the results of measurement of optical properties of oil, such as polarimetry, refractometric, luminescent-bituminological research, IR-spectrometry and UV-visible-NIR spectrometry used to solve geo-bituminology development of hydrocarbon deposits. The authors pay special attention to optical research in the field of UV-visible-NIR electromagnetic radiation, the results of which allow us to estimate the residual oil reserves, separate production for each formation during the operation of mu… Show more

“…The synthesis of fatty acid ethyl esters was carried out at ethanol excess in a stirred tank reactor in Auto-MATE system H.E.L (Figure 6) with a reflux condenser and a magnetic stirrer [43][44][45]. The volumetric ratio of ethanol to oil was maintained at 1:1, 2:1, 3:1, 4:1 and 5:1.…”

“…Sand production occurs in a wide range of hydrocarbon reservoirs, both composed of relatively young rocks of the Quaternary period and consolidated reservoirs at the final stages of development (1). Sand-related challenges significantly disrupt the oil production process, since it adversely affects the complex of subsurface and surface equipment and creates difficulties in the operation of wells (2,3). The topic of horizontal wells operation with sand production is particularly relevant.…”

“…Vietnamese oil and gas companies mainly apply traditional paraffin deposition methods during production, such as mechanical methods, hot-oil circulation, and superheated steam treatment. In addition, in some production wells, a pour point depressant (PPD) metering pump system is installed into the production oil stream at a depth of about 2000-2500 m to remediate the formation of paraffin deposition in the tubing (Akhmadeev et al 2016;Podoprigora et al 2017;Raupov et al 2022).…”
