“…La experiencia de las mujeres donantes de leche materna, ha sido estudiada desde enfoques metodológicos tanto cualitativos y cuantitativos, al respecto existe consenso en que las motivaciones o razones que llevan a las mujeres a donar son principalmente el altruismo y el exceso de leche 25,26 . Este aspecto, es desarrollado con mayor profundidad en el estudio cualitativo realizado por Candelaria LM y cols, encontrando que la conciencia que tienen las mujeres en cuanto a los beneficios y al impacto que tiene sobre los recién nacidos la leche donada, es un importante factor en la decisión de donar 27 . Actitud similar es descrita incluso en mujeres que no han sido donantes, tal como expone Ibarra J y cols, en su estudio realizado en mujeres chilenas de la provincia de Arauco, en que la mayoría de ellas se manifestó dispuesta a donar su leche aludiendo como principal motivo el sentimiento altruista hacia los lactantes y recién nacidos prematuros que no pueden recibir leche de su propia madre.…”
