Experiment investigation and in situ test of hybrid vibration bearing system applied to overtrack historical buildings

Abstract: Summary The metro‐induced vibrations and seismic safety are both big issues for historical buildings in modern cities. This paper proposed a novel hybrid vibration bearing (HVB) to isolate horizontal earthquakes and mitigate vertical metro‐induced vibrations. The HVB consists of lead rubber bearing and thick rubber bearing with decoupled horizontal and vertical behaviors. The mechanical model of HVB is developed, and a new vertical stiffness formula of thick rubber bearing is proposed to calculate the compress… Show more

“…Liang et al [236] proposed a 3D-VIB composed of rubber isolation bearings and disc springs. He et al [237] proposed a hybrid vibration bearing consisting of lead rubber bearing and thick rubber bearing with decoupled horizontal and vertical behaviors. While the aforementioned innovative vibration isolation bearings have demonstrated outstanding performance in both experimental and simulation settings, their practical application effects in engineering remain to be validated.…”

“…Due to the low strength of materials and the limitations of theoretical cognition, the overall seismic performance of the structure of these buildings is poor [9,10]. Currently, there are many cases of damage to historical buildings caused by traffic and earthquakes at home and abroad [11][12][13][14]. China is an earthquake-prone country, with many historical buildings located in highly seismic regions.…”
