Experimental and Application Study on Underpinning Engineering of Bridge Pile Foundation

Abstract: In order to study the theory and application of the pile foundation underpinning technology, 3 local node models of underpinning structures with a similarity ratio of 1/1 were made and the progressive repeated static loading tests were conducted. The shear and antislip properties of the joint are studied, and the improved formula for calculating the shear capacity is proposed. The results show that a planting bar plays a major role in shear resistance, and the hoop rate can improve the shear capacity of the in… Show more

“…During loading, the interface between the column and the beam would also be prone to failure. Yan et al [25] studied the shear and slide characteristics of the joint and developed a revised method for determining shear capacity using three local node models of the underpinning structures with a similarity ratio of 1/1. Horpibulsuk et al [26], Wang et al [27], Kou.…”

“…The pile foundation is the most typical reinforced concrete structure in shield tunneling during the excavating process. The strongest grade of concrete is C40, the largest primary reinforcement diameter in the pile is 32 mm, the largest number of cutting piles is 137, the largest cutting pile diameter is 1500 mm, and the longest cutting pile diameter is 48 m. The pile group can essentially be removed during the operation through the transformation of the shield cutter and the reinforcement or underpinning of the pile foundation [12][13][14]. However, some problems still cannot be solved, such as excessive cutter wear or collapse, reinforced winding cutterhead, and building inclination [15][16][17][18].…”

“…Yao et al (2012) analyzed the pile foundation underpinning scheme for Beijing Metro Line 8 using the finite difference software of FLAC 3D , indicating the effectiveness of pile foundation underpinning in reducing the deformation of structures and isolating piles. Combining theoretical calculations and field model tests, Yan et al (2018) obtained the shear formula of a pile foundation underpinning structure to calculate the shear bearing capacity of the structure. Based on the practical shield cutting pile engineering case, in which bridge piles with a largediameter of 14 m were cut by a shield machine, analyzed the effect and mechanism of cutting piles, the characteristics of cutting parameters and the damage law of cutting tools through field tests.…”
