Experimental and numerical analysis of a carousel stirrer for reverberation chambers

Abstract: The paper analyzes the performance of a reverberation chamber equipped by a "carousel" stirring system. The working volume is positioned inside the stirrer rotating volume. More precisely, the carousel consists of several vertical strips that rotate around a central axis and having a total diameter as large as possible compared to chamber dimensions. An FDTD code, optimized for reverberation chamber simulations and tested with experimental results, is used to analyze the chamber performance as function of stri… Show more

“…10. Compared to a traditional Z-fold stirrer in the same chamber [20], this new system provides better field uniformity and more uncorrelated angular positions. We achieve 70 uncorrelated positions at a frequency equal to six times the first resonant frequency with only 2 strips (25 cm wide) and 130 positions with the 8 strips of Fig.…”

“…L. R. Arnaut studied the effect of agitator on the performance of Reverberation Chamber, providing a theoretical support for further structural optimization [12]. In 2012, D.Fedeli designed a stirrup horse stirrer, which can increase the number of independent stir positions and field uniformity [13]. In the development field of the new Reverberation Chamber, David A.Hill realizes real-time statistical homogeneous fieldby injecting narrowband signal [14].…”
