Experimental demonstration of parallel two-step phase-shifting digital holography

Abstract: Parallel two-step phase-shifting digital holography is a technique for single-shot implementation of phase-shifting interferometry and requires only the intensity distribution of the reference wave and spatial two phase-shifted holograms. We constructed a system of parallel two-step phase-shifting digital holography and experimentally demonstrated the technique, for the first time. The system uses an originally fabricated image sensor having an array of 2 × 1 micro polarizers. Each micro polarizer was attached… Show more

“…A CCD camera (874 (V) × 1164 (H) pixels, 8 frame/s) on which an array of 2 × 1 micro polarizers was attached was used for the image sensor. The detail of the image sensor is described in [5]. The numerical aperture (N.A.)…”

“…To achieve both the elimination of the unwanted images and instantaneous 3-D measurement, parallel phase-shifting digital holography (PPSDH) [3,4], which is one of single-shot phase-shifting digital holographies, was proposed. In recent, PPSDH was experimentally verified by using an image sensor on which an array of micro polarizers was attached [5]. By the way, microscopy has contributed to the fields such as medicine, cell biology, analytical chemistry, engineering, and 3-D microscopy is one of prospective applications in digital holography [6][7][8].…”

“…Tatsuki Taharae et.al experimentally demonstrated the parallel two-step phase-shifting digital holography which requires only the intensity distribution of the reference wave and spatial two phase-shifted holograms [14]. Jung-Ping Liu and TingChung Poon adopted a correlation method to calculate the reference wave intensity [15].…”

“…A PPSDH system using a polarization imaging camera having a 2D micropolarizer array has been demonstrated [3], and this technique has been researched in many fields, such as microscopy [4], fluid measurement [5], and so on. However, we found out such the problem that the non-diffraction wave was not completely removed in the PPSDH system.…”
