Abstract:Fabrication and testing of frequency-steerable acoustic transducers (FSATs) enabling directional guided wave (GW) inspection of plate-like structures is demonstrated. A spiral FSAT is a two-electrode device which acts as a spatial filter on the propagating wavefield thanks to its shape. In sensing operation, FSAT differential output exhibits a dominant spectral component uniquely associated with the incoming wave direction. A single signal thus provides 2D imaging capabilities, as experimentally demonstrated i… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
