Experimental Determination and Correlation of Liquid Density Data of Electrolyte Mixtures Containing Water or Methanol

Abstract: Liquid densities of several binary aqueous electrolyte mixtures and mixtures containing methanol and electrolytes were measured over a large range of concentrations and temperatures from 283 to 353 K using an oscillating-tube densitometer. From these values, molar volumes were calculated for all experimental data. A new empirical correlation method was introduced to determine densities and molar volumes using only two additional parameters, which were fitted for all ionic species investigated in this work. The… Show more

“…For solutions of LiBr in methanol, apparent molar volume values [14] and few densities have been reported [37]. A comparison of our apparent molar volume data, V / , and those obtained by Pasztor and Criss [14] and calculated from the density data [37] at T = 298.15 K are shown in figure 1.…”

“…The values of experimental density were compared with the available literature values [4][5][6]. The results of Skabichevskiy were measured at T = 298.15 K. We used the equation described in reference [4] for the calculation of density values.…”

“…The detailed literature analysis were carried out and only three publications with densities and apparent molar volumes of LiNO 3 in methanol were found in the literature [4][5][6] and tabulated in table 1. It can be seen from table 1, that there are no high-temperature-high-pressure values of these systems.…”

“…The parameters of the acetone and water in equation (13) were fitted using the data taken from the literature [6], respectively, and listed in table 3. The dielectric constant D of a binary mixed solvent is calculated by the OsterÕs mixing rule…”
