Experimental Herpes Simplex Encephalitis

Abstract: An experimentally induced herpes simplex virus encephalitis in rabbits was treated with either idoxuridine or cytarabine. The cerebral lesions produced in this model bore histologic and topographic similarities to those seen in humans. Treatment was begun after infection was established in nervous system tissue.
