Experimental Investigation and Modeling of Catalytically Supported Sulfite/Bisulfite Oxidation with Oxygen

Abstract: The influence of S(IV) concentration and the concentration of the catalysts Fe(II) and Mn(II) on the oxidation rate and mechanism of sulfite/bisulfite oxidation in flue gas desulfurization processes was investigated. Modeling of the absorption/oxidation process was carried out using the data obtained from several mass transfer experiments performed in a falling‐film absorption column.
