Experimental investigation and optimization of abrasive wear characteristics of polypropylene nanocomposites

Abstract: The applications of the polymer nanocomposites are increasing to a greater extent in several sectors. In this investigation, the matrix selected was Polypropylene (PP) and reinforcing filler was Cloisite 30B (C3B) with Elvaloy-AC-3427 (EAC) as a compatibilizer. Twin screw extruder was used for manufacturing of PP/C3B/EAC nanocomposites. C3B was added at the range of 1, 2, 3, 5 wt% to PP matrix. The manufactured composites was analysed for mechanical and thermal characterization. The tribological characteristic… Show more

“…Composites are also employed more in engineering due to their excellent mechanical qualities, great impact resistance, high strength-to-weight ratio, remarkable corrosion resistance, enhanced compressive and tensile strength, low coefficient of thermal expansion, and higher fatigue resistance. [14][15][16][17] Researchers concentrated on composites because they were made with varied reinforcements and various orientations and volume fractions to produce an extensive spectrum of tribological and mechanical characteristics. [18][19][20][21][22] A fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) composite uses a polymer as a matrix, and a reinforcing material is chosen based on its intended purpose and the characteristics it needs.…”
