“…Especially, nanoparticles as a kind of nanomaterials can well improve the lubricating performance. For instance, Al 2 O 3 nanoparticles and their composite nanoparticles as lubricant additives make the tribosystem exhibit the excellent tribological performance 2–6 ; Al 2 O 3 nanoparticles as lubricating oil additive effectively reduce friction and wear of the tribosystem 2 ; Al 2 O 3 composite additives such as CuO/Al 2 O 3 , ZrO/Al 2 O 3 , and MWCNT/Al 2 O 3 can well improve the anti‐wear and friction reduction of the tribosystem 3,5,6 ; and Al 2 O 3 nanoparticles as silicone oil additive at the elevated temperatures exhibit good tribological properties for self‐mated Mg alloy 4 . The even dispersion of Al 2 O 3 nanoparticles in liquid lubricants is the key factor for improving the lubricating properties of the tribosystems.…”

“…The tribological tests show that the concentrations of the modified Al 2 O 3 nanoparticles ranging from 0 to 1.0 wt% in the mixed lubricant are helpful for obtaining low wear rate due to the formation of graphene-like materials induced by tribochemical reactions. On the other hand, when the concentration reaches 1.5 wt.%, the tribosystem exhibits high coefficient of friction (COF) and wear rate, which is attributed to the formation of reunited groups consisting of the modified 3,5,6 ; and Al 2 O 3 nanoparticles as silicone oil additive at the elevated temperatures exhibit good tribological properties for self-mated Mg alloy. 4 The even dispersion of Al 2 O 3 nanoparticles in liquid lubricants is the key factor for improving the lubricating properties of the tribosystems.…”
