“…Pia and Tönnis (26) published a paper in 1953 reporting a total of 9 cases of this condition and entitled the paper "Die wachsende Schädelfraktur des Kindesalters". Thereafter, other authors (10,11,12,19,21,23,27,32) have often adopted the term "growing or enlarging skull fractures of childhood" in their communications. Taveras and Ransohoff (31) theorized that formation of a leptomeningeal cyst was by the entrapment of fluid in an arachnoidal herniation through a dural tear and discussed the mechanism of the associated bone erosion with emphasis on the pulsations of the brain which is transmitted through the cysts to the inner table of the skull.…”
