Experimental study on dynamic interference effect of two closely spaced machine foundations

Abstract: This paper presents an experimental study on the dynamic interaction effect of closely spaced square foundations under machine vibration. Under dynamic condition, a number of large-scale model tests were conducted in the field, which include a wide range of study on the isolated as well as the interacting footing response resting on the local soil available at Kanpur, India. The dynamic interaction of different combinations (size) of two-footing assembly was investigated by inducing vertical harmonic load on o… Show more

“…The dynamic response (displacement amplitude, velocity, acceleration) of the second footing are measured and recorded at the same time using Piezoelectric accelerometer and two dial gauge, are placed, previously on top and edge of the second footing to obtain a foundation response, the operating frequency of (600, 1200, 1800) rpm equivalent to (10,20,30) Hz is considered in the present study, the response parameters were recorded every 5 minutes during operation test duration.…”

“…This stage slack is observed to be an indispensable parameter in characterizing the dynamic collaboration of a gathering of footings. The stage slack is seen to diminish with abatement in the dispersing between the footings, the variety of transmission proportion is by and large connected with a base and a most extreme point [10].…”

“…Using the finite difference method, Ghosh 18 modeled the foundation in close proximity to a heavy machine tool ( Figure 5), and the settlement law of the foundation with different spacing, under dynamic excitation, was analyzed. Swain and Ghosh 36 conducted a study considering different vibration conditions for a square foundation, based on the Ghosh paper ( Figure 6), to obtain the dynamic response of different length-width ratios of concrete foundations under different excitations.…”
