Experimental Study on the Biaxial Tensile Properties of Warp Knitted Fabrics of Single Tricot Stitches

Abstract: A theory of the biaxial tensile properies of warp knitted fabrics was developed in previous paper. The biaxial tensile properties of single tricot stitches with a close lap is calculable if the mechanical properties of yarn and fabric structures are given. In this paper, the biaxial tensile properties of some actual fabrics have been calculated by using the theoretical formula presented in previous paper. The properties have also been measured by using a biaxial tensile tester for the purpose of comparing with… Show more

“…Thus slippage can be expected in most closed lap single bar knitted fabrics as the tension increases. This conclusion is supported by photographic evidence [8] and by the experimental results of Yanagawa et al [12], which show that there is considerable slippage during the extension of closed lap single bar knitted fabrics.…”

“…The results of the model are compared with experimentally measured dimensional properties and microscopic examination of the fabrics and with the experimental biaxial tensile properties determined by Yanagawa et al [12]. Since the energy model has been used successfully for the analysis of several different fabric structures, it is possible to compare the results of different types of fabric using the same dimensionless parameters.…”

“…Therefore, the composition of the properties in the two regions is made by an approximate method shown in Fig.7, as well as in earlier papers [1,3]. Namely, point Pin bending region is moved to P (toward stretching side) for the length equivalent to QQ'.…”
