“…To achieve this, we introduce the concept of awareness deviation (AD), which can also be interpreted as a measure of the perceptual level of SA (Level 1) by quantifying the difference between the current state value and what the system assumes is the pilot’s last perception of each state (Endsley & Jones, 2012). The metric AD was first introduced and tested by the authors in two previous studies (Schwerd & Schulte, 2020, 2021), on the basis of which this follow-up study was developed.
