Abstract:SiAlON ceramics are of interest for high‐risk applications such as biomedical implants and combustion engine turbines. This work is part of a larger study aimed at leveraging atomic‐ or molecular‐scale additives to control the densification, microstructures, and ultimate structural properties of SiAlONs. Here, we investigate the effects of boron in silicon nitride‐based ceramics. The present work demonstrates a possible chemical method for controlling the microstructural development of SiAlONs by incorporating… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
