Exploration of the Adsorption Reduction of the Pigment Aggregates Strength under the Effect of Surfactants in Water-Dispersion Paints

Abstract: This article presents the results of studying the disaggregation of titanium dioxide in water-dispersion compositions based on an acrylic film-forming agent under the action of a surfactant. The possibility of using polyether siloxane copolymer (PC) and sodium polyacrylate (NaPA) in paint and varnish compositions as modifying additives of the dispersing effect is proved. The correlation between the dispersing effect of surfactants and the amount of their adsorption on the pigment is proved. NaPA, which provide… Show more

“…After measuring the values of the amplitude coefficient of the third harmonic corresponding to a certain combination of input parameters ( Table 2 ), the experimental array was sampled on dot plots in accordance with the PDP method [ 75 , 76 , 77 , 78 , 79 , 80 , 81 ], and the particular dependencies were obtained, which are shown in Figure 12 , Figure 13 and Figure 14 .…”

“…of the ultrasonic signal was carried out using the method of probabilistic–deterministic planning (PDP). A detailed description of the PDP method for modeling multiparameter processes is presented in [ 75 , 76 , 77 , 78 , 79 , 80 , 81 ]. The experiment was designed with a “3 × 3 × 4” plan and included all the possible combinations of input parameters.…”

“…We found that there is a complete lack of research data on the use of polymer dispersions in paint formulations for electrophoretic painting. The most frequently published are issues related to the pigmentation of dispersion systems, their stability, surfactants, nanodispersion and dispersions containing surfactants that are more environmentally friendly 32–36 …”

“…To enhance coating properties, researchers are focusing on the development of new functional additives. 30,31 In coating preparation, many additives are commonly used to regulate process performance, such as suspension agents, 32,33 film-forming agents, 34,35 tougheners, 36,37 thickeners, 38,39 pigment dispersants, 40,41 and defoamers, 42 which are an essential part of coatings. For example, Liang et al 42 added a defoamer and a film-forming additive to address the coating's internal defects and improve its mechanical properties.…”
