Effective farming is the basis of Russia's food security. At the present stage, the agricultural industry, and in particular crop production, is experiencing a constant shortage of qualified machine operators, highperformance equipment, there is no developed infrastructure, etc. The main direction of agricultural production in the North-Western region of the Russian Federation should be resource conservation and technological modernization, including through the use of "precision agriculture" (PA). It has been revealed that there are prerequisites for this: there are enterprises in the Leningrad Region where PA elements have been introduced. The analysis of the sowing campaign on a specific example of an enterprise for soil preparation and sowing of grain crops revealed factors affecting the productivity of aggregates and additional costs. The prerequisites for the introduction of PA elements in the sowing of grain crops were: large overlap on the aisles of the units, work on the incomplete width of the guns, curved movement of the units across the field, incorrect rotation scheme of the unit with manual control. Fuel overspending on soil preparation and sowing of grain crops in monetary terms amounts to 513632 rubles with manual control of the units, and with an automatic control system of 2.5 cm and an RTK station will amount to 20496 rubles.

The increasing food scarcity necessitates sustainable agriculture achieved through automation to meet the growing demand. Integrating the Internet of Things (IoT) and Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) is crucial in enhancing food production across various agricultural domains, encompassing irrigation, soil moisture monitoring, fertilizer optimization and control, early-stage pest and crop disease management, and energy conservation. Wireless application protocols such as ZigBee, WiFi, SigFox, and LoRaWAN are commonly employed to collect real-time data for monitoring purposes. Embracing advanced technology is imperative to ensure efficient annual production. Therefore, this study emphasizes a comprehensive, futureoriented approach, delving into IoT-WSNs, wireless network protocols, and their applications in agriculture since 2019. It thoroughly discusses the overview of IoT and WSNs, encompassing their architectures and summarization of network protocols. Furthermore, the study addresses recent issues and challenges related to IoT-WSNs and proposes mitigation strategies. It provides clear recommendations for the future, emphasizing the integration of advanced technology aiming to contribute to the future development of smart agriculture systems. Throughout the United States, the agricultural, forestry, and natural resource industries are facing a multitude of challenges. While each industry is facing unique challenges on a national level, these challenges vary in scope and topic, and they are not necessarily generalizable to smaller geographic regions. Based on the socio-economic importance of agriculture in the state, along with five distinct geographic regions ranging from coastal to mountainous, this study compiled a comprehensive list of critical issues facing the agricultural, forestry, and natural resource industries in the state of Georgia. The study used the Delphi methodology with an expert panel composed of agricultural, forestry, and natural resource opinion leaders. Using a three-round consensus-building process, a total of 40 critical issues were identified with eight items receiving 100% agreement amongst the panelists. The final list of items were then analyzed using the constant comparative method to identify themes within the retained items. Six themes emerged based on the analysis, including (alphabetically) economic considerations, operations and infrastructure, policy, public perceptions, regulations, and workforce. The proposed themes, and subsumed critical issues, represent a heuristic framework within which to facilitate dialogue amongst agricultural, forestry, and natural-resource-related industries, as well as inform future research and praxis oriented efforts.
