“…Furthermore, all aforementioned ndings describe a few components of the complex biopsychosocial context and everyday demands within which individuals, single or in a relationship, navigate their sexual functioning (McCabe et al, 2010). Thus, meaningfully comparing MSF scores by their relationship status provides future studies more versatility when measuring MSF in control by relationship status, evaluating interactions, or modeling sexual function in couples.Regarding age generation measurement invariance, it is widely known that MSD worsens with age(Hatzimouratidis et al, 2010;Oyanedel et al, 2021;Ya et al, 2016). Still, our ndings showed a trend where middle-aged adults would score signi cantly higher than younger adults or older people in most IIEF dimensions, including the MSD criterion (see Supplementary Tables2 and 3).…”

“…In the present study, men who reported being satisfied or equally dissatisfied/satisfied were 17.78 and 2.85 times more likely to have sexual intercourse during the COVID-19 pandemic, respectively. The association between intercourse and sexual satisfaction before the COVID-19 pandemic can be explained by emotional and social support, considering the affective dimension as a central element for sexual dysfunction 25 .…”

“…Particularly, when it comes to understanding Chilean sociocultural nuances of sexual function and dysfunction, sex research is considered limited and outdated (Quintana, 2023). Aside from studies that have analysed different dimensions of sexual function in isolation in this population (e.g., Contreras et al, 2016;Mella et al, 2015;Oyanedel et al, 2021), studies on women' sexual function consist of only twelve peer-reviewed studies across mainstream databases (i.e., Web of Science, PubMed, Scopus, and SciELO). These studies have evaluated the sexual function of women in the general population (Águila et al, 2022;Blümel, Binfa, et al, 2004), middle age (Blümel, Castelo-Branco, et al, 2004;Blümel et al, 2009) Most of these studies recruited women from Santiago-Chile's capital city-where total FSFI scores ranged between 21 and 30, and the highest scores were more commonly reported by women between 35 and 40 years old.…”
