Citizenship Education requires learning strategies to be developed, namely Values Clarification Technique (VCT) and social science inquiry. Another factor that has an impact on learning effectiveness is the cognitive style which consists of field dependence (FD) and field independence (FI). The research aims: first, to find out the differences in the acquisition of tolerant values with the application of values clarification learning strategies and social science inquiry; Second, knowing the difference in the value of tolerance for those who have FD and FI; And third, knowing the interaction between the application of learning strategies and cognitive styles in the development of tolerance. Experimental research with a quasi-experimental design. The research subjects were undergraduate level students who were taking Civics courses. Four classes were selected as samples using a cluster sampling, with a total of 149 students who became respondents. Cognitive style test and tolerance test as instruments. Data analysis using MANOVA. Conclusion: first, there is a significant difference in the tolerant attitudes of students between classes that implement VCT and social science inquiry learning activities. The class that applied the VCT strategy got a posttest average tolerance attitude higher than the social science inquiry class; Second, there is no difference in the tolerant attitude of students who have a significant cognitive style; And third, there is interaction between learning strategies and cognitive styles in the development of tolerance. Overall, this research contributes to increasing tolerant attitudes which end at the academic level and attitudes of students. Keywords: learning strategies, cognitive style, tolerance

While computer technology permeates all spheres of life in modern society, the outcomes of using technology are different for different groups. The “digital divide” is probably one of the most undefined terms in educational research. One of the most pressing challenges is the definition of digital divide itself. Many of the contemporary research papers still focus on the gaps in access/possession of technology while this issue is not as relevant as it used to be. Most contemporary research papers simply do not even provide a definition of the construct they investigate. Those who target higher levels of the digital divide do not define the strand they focus on or use different interchangeable terms to name it. This article reviews contemporary literature critically and clarifies basic terms related to the digital divide with a specific focus on computer and information literacy. It also provides a definition of the digital divide that shifts focus from the traditional understanding of its levels and focuses on computer and information literacy as its core, as this construct encompasses all “new literacies” and is crucial for functioning and achieving outcomes in the information society.

In an era marked by rapid digital transformation, understanding the factors that influence digital engagement is crucial for bridging the digital divide. This study aims to explore the impact of individual factors such as networking motive, social media use, content service usage, and economic activity on digital transformation awareness and satisfaction. Utilizing Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) to analyze data from 7,000 respondents of the National Information Society Agency (NIA)'s 2022 Digital Divide Survey, this research provides empirical insights into the dynamics of digital engagement. The findings reveal that networking motive significantly predicts social media use, which in turn slightly enhances digital transformation awareness but not satisfaction. Conversely, economic activity positively influences both awareness and satisfaction with digital transformation, underscoring the tangible benefits of digital economic engagement. Life service utilization emerged as a crucial factor, significantly impacting both awareness and satisfaction. These results offer critical implications for policymakers, educators, and digital platform developers, suggesting the need for targeted strategies to enhance digital literacy, promote inclusive digital services, and foster economic opportunities in the digital domain.
