Exploring the applications of 3D proximity analysis in a 3D digital cadastre

Abstract: Increasing population in urban areas and limitations of suitable lands for developing houses and urban infrastructure have led to the vertical development in cities. However, these developments are managed by a cadastral system which is mainly two-dimensional and cannot efficiently represent Rights, Restrictions, and Responsibilities (RRRs) in complex scenarios. In fact, a three-dimensional cadastre is required for efficiently registering and representing RRRs. In this paper, a 3D proximity analysis was propos… Show more

“…Barki et al (2015) produced a BIM model for skyscrapers by combining two-dimensional maps and images from indoor scans with digital cameras. Emamgholian et al (2021;2018; utilized two-dimensional cadastral data to make a 3D model of a large complex high-rise building in Tehran, and proposed a 3D proximity analysis to model the easement rights. Hosseini and Taleai (2021) reviewed recent researches on integration of BIM and GIS which amied to better management of spatial information and better decision-making to solve issues related to different urban ploblems.…”

“…The 3D representation of 3D parcels in a building complex can facilitate efficient management and understanding of ownerships, location and spatial relations between 3D parcels [17]. Applications that require 3D proximity information can also be performed on 3D cadastre such as determining neighbouring parcels and accessibility of parcels [18].…”

“…Various methods can be implemented to classify topological relationships for 3D cadastre. A study by Emamgholian, Taleai, and Shojaei (2021) utilised a close proximity analysis to determine topological relationships between adjacent 3D units within a building. This includes adjacent horizontal and vertical 3D units in high-rise buildings, as shown in Figure 1.…”
